Who is Moustache?

Moustache is an ordinary house cat — or so he appears.

But once night falls, he becomes a guardian of dreams, thresholds and invisible worlds.

A mischievous guide, a philosopher in fur, and a quiet protector, he leads the reader through an adventure where every feline habit takes on new meaning: a nap becomes a journey, a purr becomes a form of care, a window becomes a passage, and a ball of yarn becomes a knot in time.

If one line from Nocturnal Whispers had to be remembered, it might be this one:

“Cat stories never really end. They just move to another room.”

I'm especially fond of this line because it captures the spirit of the book: a story that doesn't try to explain everything, but invites you to look differently at the quiet presences that accompany us.

With cats, nothing ever feels entirely finished. They move from one room to another, one night to another, sometimes even one life to another — always with the strange impression of knowing exactly where they're going.

Why this passage?

Because it expresses what I love about cats: the way they move from one place to another, one silence to another, without ever truly leaving the story.

They can be deeply ordinary — begging for kibble, sleeping on a cushion, stretching in the sun — while somehow still giving the impression of watching over something far greater. That blend of everyday life, mystery and tenderness is exactly what I wanted Nocturnal Whispers to hold.
